I appreciate the instruction for drilling a hole into the stone. I imagine the chosen stone needs to have some strong integrity for drilling and riveting. I personally prefer using a center punch to initially splay the tube and then the cross/ball pein followed by hammer. TY for the video!

Anna seems lovely. I was about to make a comment on some misconceptions in some statements here on metal clay, but then realized this is not her channel and she is just being featured! So this might be pointless, but I’ve been metalsmithing & jewelry making since 2011, and using metal clay since 2017, so even if this doesn’t get to her maybe another jeweler will find it helpful. While it IS best practice to try as much as you can to keep your metal clay from prematurely drying out, it’s not unusable if it happens. I reconstitute clay all the time. First, the little dry bits sanded/filed off should be scraped into a small airtight jar (like, dime-sized diameter jar) and either water or a specific reconstitution liquid (I buy mine from Cool Tools-biggest difference is that it has a mold inhibitor) in a little spray bottle with it nearby. You use this by spritzing a bit of the liquid onto a blank surface (I usually use a tile) then dumping some of the dry clay flecks in, mixing up to make a paste. As thin or thick as you need it to do something as simple as joining two larger surface areas of clay pieces to thick enough to sculpt into filigree. This same reconstitution works with larger pieces of dried clay to get them back to fresh-like consistency, where they can then be used just as you would straight out of the package. Zero bits of clay (or any metal, for that matter-even sanded dust from fired pieces can be reused…and should be; it adds up $$ quickly!) should be going to waste. Cool Tools also sells a little clay keeper jar that keeps humidity so your resealed large clay chunks won’t dehydrate And one last tip on the soldering: paint an inhibitor on the highly detailed parts you don’t want the solder to flow to…especially when just starting off soldering and controlling it perfectly is still not a thoughtless habit. Even with filing you’ll never get that same detail back before you covered it in solder. Hopefully this can get back to Anna and/or help someone else!

Wow what a stunning ring. I am brand new to jewellery making so please forgive my questions if they seam obvious. What solder and what flux did you use ? I have alreadh boight some Silver solder. And a flux paste that resembles wjat looks like yellow vasseline. 😂 hope you can help. Thank you

Hello great video. Accetate !! I use a fine liner on acetate and cuf it out. Thats how i make my stencils. And you can various thickneses of acetate

I used your method and it worked but after cleaning it the piece showed the silver solder again.
